In harvest moon tree of tranquility, what happens if i fail the lumber collecting request with Luke?

The lumber collecting request is necessary in order to marry Luke. If failing the event caused Luke's heart level to decrease, then you should increase his heart level to the amount that triggers that heart event. After that, talk to Luke and see if he asks you to complete the challenge again. Best of luck!! :)
