Is there any way for some1 to trace an email back to me......?

without getting law enforcement involved? I sent a prank email to someone, this jerk at work who picks on everyone. I basically just told him he's an immature jerk and needs to cut out his attitude, and that the girl he likes doesn't want him at all.(it's true!). There is nothing threatening in it, so he likely won't do anything about it, but is there a way to find out on his own where the email came from? I sent it from a phony account on a public computer, though I've checked the account from my house. From what I understand, there is no way to find out, just the IP number and server - is that true?
