Christians: if the barbaric instructions in the bible don’t apply, why not get rid of them?
You guys claim that this ‘holy spirit’ thingy guides you in your interpretation of the bible and grants you permission to ignore the parts of the bible that tell you “God” wants you to stone disobedient children to death and that “God” says slavery is ok and lets you beat your slaves with impunity (as long as you don’t kill them, but even if you do, meh…). But by keeping the barbaric verses, doesn’t this leave open the possibility that crazy people will think they need to be obeyed? If you get rid of them, then this will never happen, right? And when you think about it, just ignoring these verses, which is what you guys do, is the same as removing them from the bible, isn’t it?
